FOOT SURGERY
Today I had my left foot operated on. I have been struggling with a bunion on the outside of my left foot. I saw the x-ray! Yuck! The 5th metatarsal (foot bone) leading to my little toe was bowed out about 45 degrees! It also was pointing downward, kind of like a bike kickstand. The pain has been increasing, even with steroid treatment. It has been there for a while, but the past 6 months it has really stopped me from doing much of anything, walking, golfing, etc. It has been a long day at work as well, since I'm on my feet most of the time. Jumping rope, running and everyday things I do have been a challenge.
The surgery was quick and I really didn't feel a thing except for the bad IV stick from the nurse in pre-op. She blew the vein. Once they got that in, the next thing I knew they were waking me up. We were back home by 9:15 AM.
I've been keeping my foot elevated and iced as the doctor prescribed. Only walking in my boot to the bathroom and a quick cruise into the kitchen. The block he put on my foot is slowing coming out and I'm feeling it begin to tingle a bit. Not painful yet though.
Brian has been good to me so far. Breakfast and lunch, no worries!
