Thanksgiving 2012
Thanksgiving 2012-- TIWIWTB -- Lake Gaston -- Littleton,NCThis was a holiday from school for me today. So nice to have this day to catch up and get things ready for tomorrow and the weekend. Started my day early taking my car in for service. I had to leave the house at 7 am...just like every other day.Brian and I left for the Lake around 10 and were happy to arrive to a sunny, but windy, day. Only up to about 58 before the sun began to go down.I've been busy making a lobster stew for dinner. I have found an awesome way to make it and it is so easy. Anyone can make an authentic style Maine Lobster Stew and almost all the work is done for you. You just have to have access to the right ingredients. Pictures and the recipe follows. You will need 1 package lobster,(about 7 oz) from Shucks Maine Lobster www.ShucksMaine.com, about 1 cup of Half and Half, Rockport Lobster Bisque, 1 stick of butter and some nutmeg and pepper.
Melt butter in kettle. Add lobster and sauté. Then add lobster bisque, a cup or so of half and half. Warm until hot, not boiling! If it boils it is not good! Add pepper to taste and sprinkle nutmeg over the top. Let it mellow for a while if you can, the flavor will intensify.

Thanksgiving 2011
Brian and I have had an incredible week here at the Lake. We decided to stay up all week, as I only had 2 days to work and he could work from here. He had to travel north to Virginia Beach, so the Lakehouse was actually closer than home. Commuting 70 miles was not exactly a piece of cake, but doing it for only 2 days wasn't a problem. The good thing was I could have gone to the house in Wake Forest and stayed if I really wanted.
We have had great weather and have been clearing and burning leaves most of the week. It makes both of us feel good to get the place looking beautiful. I plan to take some photos later today. We've still got a few things to do. Then I want to get the holiday decorations up.
I've managed to run/jog/walk quite a bit, even though I'm not exactly on the running schedule I kept for the past year. Finally, feeling a little better with the bronchitis. Hopefully, it is on it's way out.
I put up the bird feeder and we have been enjoying the little birds. Today we had Cardinals, Bluejays, Juncos, Carolina Chickadees, Carolina Wrens and Titmice plus the 4 crows that like to squawk and terrorize the area early in the morning. Thankfully, it has not attracted the geese! We also have been enjoying the water birds. A loon has been frequenting the cove and he was actually calling yesterday. The coots are working the hydrilla and we have had a number of ducks and geese, some traveling through.

Friday the 13th, 2010
This is a view of the Narraguagus River in Milbridge, Maine. My home town! July 2010
At home this morning, recovering from some minor surgery. Probably could have gone to work, but am not supposed to do anything strenuous, so will lay low. My phone is on the fritz, so I am going to the Verizon store first thing. I've got to pick up and drop off library books and want to buy some new running shoes. Then groceries, home to pack up and head to the lake. Is that laying low? It is for me, I usually have to fit all those things around a full day's work.
It is so hot here in North Carolina! Thankfully we can get relief in most places. Air conditioned comfort, especially in all the stores, malls, etc. My school AC has a difficult time when it is this hot though, it works but it is about 5 degrees too warm, we all break into a sweat the minute we do anything. All those little bodies moving creates quite a heat wave!
Been looking at a lot of pics I've taken over the summer. Here are a couple of Maya and Ethan when we saw them in July. They have grown and changed so much since we saw them just a couple of months ago. They are so much fun. We have a visit with the other 3 next weekend, so I hope to get some new photos. Elizabeth is now in Grade 3, Sarah Grade 5 and Blane is entering Grade 10! Big kids now!

Father's Day Weekend 6-20-2010
These photos were taken this weekend. It has been quite hot, in the upper 90's for several days. The Lake was definitely the place to be. Brian and I had a quiet weekend here together. Nice to just stop and spend some much needed down time together. You would think the older we get, we might find more time, but both of us are busy with work and on the run most of the time. The Lakehouse and weekends here are "our" time and we try to enjoy every minute.
We managed a couple of long boat rides and the jet ski has actually been used this weekend by both of us. I tried to slalom ski, but quit after a face plant that had me inhale most of the lake. I need more strength. Next time I'll go up on two and drop a ski until I get a little more core strength. I have a few days off before the 4th and plan to come and really enjoy a little of the summer, like I used to before year round school.
Talked with my Dad and had a good conversation with him for Father's Day. That was nice. A little frustrated that his Father's Day gift didn't make it in time. Hope it will be there tomorrow, the brownies I sent will be ruined.
